Sustainability

Home Sustainability

Agriculture today faces a fundamental challenge: to produce more, in a more sustainable way, in a backdrop of change.

To increase productivity while respecting environmental limitations and ensuring economic efficiency means to produce differently – something producers need to do while also adapting to the effects of climate change, the growing shortage of production inputs and new supply and demand patterns.

Global supply chains rapidly ripple environmental and social demands of major clients, final consumers, political decision-makers and financiers to the entire world.

Today’s external market, the enhancement and emphasis on the sustainability of Portuguese agro-industrial products is a distinguishing competitive factor – especially in segments of greater added value – where such attributes are already a requisite for entry and permanence.

To optimize agricultural practices and show performance through quantitative indicators will be, in the near future, a condition of eligibility for national and EU agricultural policy financial incentives.

This is a new reality for the national agricultural and agro-industrial sectors, rife with opportunities they can and should explore. AGRO.GES has developed specific expertise and solutions that help national producers efficiently respond to this challenge.
