Francisco Avillez

SCIENTIFIC AND METHODOLOGICAL COORDINATION

Undergraduate degree in Agricultural Engineering from Instituto Superior de Agronomia da Universidade Técnica de Lisboa in 1970.

Post-graduate degree in Rural Development Economics from the Institut Agronomique Méditerranéan, Centre de Hautes Études Agronomiques Méditerranéannes of Montpellier, France in 1971.

PhD in Agricultural Economics, from Instituto Superior de Agronomia da Universidade Técnica de Lisboa in 1982.

Professor of Agricultural Economics and Policy at Instituto Superior de Agronomia da Universidade Técnica de Lisboa since 1993 until his retirement in March 2008.

Professor Emeritus of Instituto Superior de Agronomia da Universidade Técnica de Lisboa since December 2008.

Founding Partner and Scientific Coordinator of AGRO.GES, Sociedade de Estudos e Projectos, which began its activity in 1989.

Member of the Expert Panel for the CAP Reform post-2013, of which he was a coordinator since its creation in August 2011 until November 2013.

Guest Member of the National Council for Water. Guest Member of the Council for the Hydrographic Region of Alentejo.

Member of the General Council of Universidade Técnica de Lisboa.

Participation in conferences, publications and articles, both national and international, mainly pertaining to the analysis and planning of investment and agricultural development projects in general and the Common Agricultural Policy in particular.

Founded in 1989, at a turning point for Portuguese agriculture due to the country’s full integration in the EU, AGRO.GES distinguished itself early on within the market for services in the support of the rural development, agroforestry and food sectors.
